FOM Conference

Mobile Pie decided that they needed to keep their finger right on the button of mobile technology, or maybe even press it, or maybe - actually be the button?? Anyway we hopped onto the train to attend what else but the Future of Mobile Conference put on by Carsonified at the I-MAX cinema in Waterloo.

The range of speakers was fantastic with representatives from Adobe, Motorola, Sony Ericcson, AdMob, dotMobi, Opera, Vodafone and Google.

Amongst the highlights were Luca Passani from AdMob, creator of WURFL, having a bit of a heartfelt rant about Vodafone's messing about with user agent strings, and then Daniel Appelquist from Vodafone putting up the defence. If you don't know what it's all about  read Luca's full complaint here. 

The speaker everyone was waiting to hear from though was Dave Burke, and engineering manager from Google. He talked about the exciting new completely open Android platform which we are praying will take off and actually be on loads of phones in the near future - because it's cool and will enable us to finally make that GPS-phonebook-weather-alarm clock idea we've had kicking around....

Anyway it was a neat day out and now we know what the future of mobile is - and it's a secret! (Hint: it's all about the web)
